Bounce is an energetic work composed for Pierrot ensemble. Inspired by the complex interlocking rhythms of West African drumming, the piece uses simple harmonies and progressions as a platform for six virtuosi to dialogue with one another in a variety of fashions: excited conversation, optimistic collaboration, round-table discussion, and chaotic argument. The piece culminates with a final recap of the various rhythmic patterns involved over a persistent A minor, bringing the work to an emphatic close.
